มหาวิทยาลัย La Verne, California เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนที่ไม่ได้แสวงผลกำรไรที่ค่าเรียนไม่แพง ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 1891 ตอนนี้อายุ 132 ปีย่าง 133 ปีในวันที่เรามาที่นี่ค่ะ (January 23rd, 2024) ตั้งอยู่ในหุบเขา Saint Gabriel เมืองใกล้ๆ อาทิเช่น San Dimas, Montclair, Claremont, Azusa จำนวนนักเรียนประมาณ 8,000 คน

การเดินทางมาที่มหาวิทยาลัย
Option 1: หากน้องๆ ที่เดินทางมาจากประเทศไทย ก็ลงที่สนามบิน LAX Airport และแนะนำเรียก Uber ไปมหาวิทยาลัยเลย ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณ 45 นาที หรือ 1 ชั่วโมงกว่า แล้วแต่เวลาเดินทาง
หากเดินทางในช่วงเช้า หรือ เย็น รถจะติดก็จะนานหน่อยค่ะ เพราะว่าคนเมืองนี้จะขับรถส่วนตัวกันเยอะพอควร
Option 2: จริงๆ นั่งรถสาธารณะไป University of La Verne คือง่ายมาก เพราะรถบัสจอดหน้ามหาลัยเลย แล้วเราก็เดินเข้าไปชมเมือง ความประทับใจที่ถึงเมือง La Verne คือเป็นเมืองที่สะอาด สวย สงบและดูเรียบง่าย ทุกอย่างเดินถึงกัน มหาลัยติด Town เลย กรณีผู้ปกครองมาส่ง ก็มีโรงเรียน Best Western San Dimas ไม่ไกลเมือง สามารถไปพักได้
แต่พี่โอ้เดินทางมาด้วย option 3 ค่ะ ซึ่งก็คือ ความอยากทำตัวเป็นคน Local เราก็เลยเดินทางด้วยรถสาธารณะ Bus / Bus ก่อนเดินทางก็เช็คว่าจาก LA เดินทางไปเมือง La Verne คือเดินทางไปทางตะวันออกของ LA ใช้เวลาเดินทาง 2 ชั่วโมง สู้ค่ะ เริ่ม (กรณีนั่ง Uber จะประมาณ 35-45 นาทีค่ะ ราคา Uber ประมาณ $80-90/ นั่ง Bus จ่ายไป $3.5)

วันนี้เจ้าหน้าที่ของ ELS 2 ท่านได้พาเราทัวร์ มหาวิทยาลัย ELS Language Center คือสถาบันภาษาของมหาวิทยาลัย University of La Verne ซึ่งเปิดสอนภาษาสำหรับน้องที่สนใจมาเรียนภาษาในมหาวิทยาลัย และ สำหรับน้องๆ ที่ต้องการใช้ผลภาษาของ ELS เข้ามหาวิทยาลัย La Verne นี้ เช่น หากมีผลคะแนน IELTS หรือ TOEFL เข้าตรงมหาวิทยาลัยไม่ได้ ก็ไม่ต้องกังวล สามารถเรียนภาษาเพิ่มที่ ELS ก่อนได้ค่ะ
ที่ ELS จะมีระดับภาษาทั้งหมด 12 ระดับ (101-112) และจะใช้เวลา 1 เดือนในการเรียนแต่ละระดับ น้องๆ จะทราบว่าตนเองได้ระดับภาษาที่ระดับไหนในวันแรกที่เริ่มเรียน ทางสถาบันจะทำการวัดระดับภาษา และ เริ่มเรียนจากระดับนั้นไป หากถึงระดับ 112 จะสามารถใช้แทน IELTS or TOEFL เพื่อเข้าเรียนที่ University of La Verne ได้ค่ะ ที่สำคัญ นักเรียนที่ ELS จะเรียนในมหาวิทยาลัยและสามารถใช้สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกทุกอย่างในมหาวิทยาลัยได้ด้วย อาทิเช่น ห้องสมุด โรงอาหาร โรงยิมออกกำลังกาย และยังสามารถอยู่หอในมหาวิทยาลัยได้ด้วย
คณะที่ Popular ของที่นี่คือ MBA เนื่องจากไม่ต้องการ study background และ ประสบการณ์ทำงาน

Office ของ ELS ค่ะ ที่เจ้าหน้าที่จะทำงานตรงนี้ น้องๆ สามารถมาติดต่อสอบถามเรื่องที่ต้องการได้ที่นี่ และ โรงเรียนจะมีกิจกรรมอื่นๆ นอกจากการเรียน เช่น ไปเที่ยว Universal Studios เดือนละครั้งด้วย

ตึก Information and Services น้องๆ สามารถสอบถามเจ้าหน้าที่เรื่องทั่วไปที่นี่ได้ และยังเป็น student union ที่น้องๆมาใช้สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกของมหาวิทยาลัยได้ค่ะ ซึ่งในตึกนี้ก็มีร้าน Starbucks ด้านในด้วย
Canteen โรงอาหาร น้องๆ ที่เรียนที่นี่ หากพักหอในที่อยู่ตรงกันข้าม จะรวมค่าอาหารที่โรงอาหารนี้ด้วยค่ะ อาหารก็มีให้เลือกมากมาย ถ่ายรูปมาแค่บางส่วน

Campus Store หรือ Bookstore
ตึกเรียนที่ห้องเรียนของ ELS ก็อยู่ที่นี่ค่ะ จำนวนนักเรียนต่อหนึ่งห้องเรียน จะไม่เกิน 18 คน ส่วนห้อง computer lab จำนวนนักเรียนที่ใช้พร้อมกันจะไม่เกิน 30 คนเราไม่สามารถถ่ายรูปห้องเรียนได้ เนื่องจากมีน้องเรียนกำลังเรียนอยู่ค่ะ
