Cardiff Metropolitan University หรือ Cardiff Met ในอดีตคือ University of Wales Institute, Cardiff ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 1865 เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่มีชื่อเสียงมากทางด้านคุณภาพทางการศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยมีการลงทุนกับอาคารและสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกทางการศึกษาในทุก ๆ ปี อาจารย์ผู้สอนมีคุณวุฒิและความเชี่ยวชาญเฉพาะทางในแต่ละสาขา ทำให้ในปี 2021 Cardiff Met เป็นหนึ่งในไม่กี่มหาวิทยาลัยที่ได้รับรางวัล University of the Year จาก Times Higher Education
ปัจจุบัน Cardiff Met ได้เปิดหลักสูตรที่หลากหลายผ่าน 5 วิทยาลัยแยกย่อย ได้แก่ Cardiff School of Art & Design, School of Education & Social Policy, Cardiff School of Management, Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences, Cardiff School of Technologies ในพื้นที่การสอน 2 แคมปัสในเมือง Cardiff และยังมีเครือข่ายกับสถาบันการศึกษาในประเทศอื่น ๆ ทั่วโลก เพื่อขยายโอกาสทางการศึกษาให้เข้าถึงคนในทุกพื้นที่ ในขณะเดียวกันก็เปิดรับนักเรียนชาวต่างชาติที่ต้องการเข้ามาศึกษาที่แคมปัสของมหาวิทยาลัยด้วย โดยในปีการศึกษาที่ผ่านมา มีนักเรียนต่างชาติราว ๆ พันคนจากกว่า 140 ประเทศเข้ามาเรียนต่อที่นี่
